How pretty is Kristin Cavallari's make up in this picture?
Going to try and recreate it sometime soon.

Review- ILoveThisBox.com.au

Hey everyone,

So finally the whole "birchbox", "glossybox" etc equivalent has hit Australia. I signed up to the company ILoveThisBox and was so exited to get my first box with goodies today.

As you can see the packaging is similar to the other brands with a cute message card, which on the other side described the products you got and how much the original sizes retail for. The first thing that you definitely notice is the gorgeous fresh smell that you are greeted with when you open the lid. Loved that touch!

Now onto the goodies!! As soon as you open the wrapping everything is laid out perfectly so you can get a good look at what you got straight away. I saw another review of this months ILoveThisBox and she got a different coloured nail varnish; so some of the item colours do vary from box to box.

Cadalie Paris : Set of 3 Facial Care Samples : full size 30-40ml RRP $80
"Enjoy 3 of Candalie's patented grape-seed products - a moisturiser, an anti-wrinkle serum & an anti-wrinkle ultra nourishing cream - all enriched with anti-oxidants active ingredients to preserve the skin's youthful appearance."

The sample sizes of these are rather small as I hate getting smaller sizes for skin care as it obviously takes a while for your skin to show the results. However, I'm excited to try them as my skin has been going through a unusual dry phase lately and luckily these samples are "ultra nourishing".

Essie French Affair's Spring 2011 Nail Polish Collection : full size 15ml RRP $18.95
"Essie's wildly romantic and effortlessly chic French Affair collection takes inspiration from the beaches of St Tropez. Excluding casual elegance and sophistication, this range will transport you to a topless convertible, driving by the seaside with the sun on your shoulders and the wind in your hair"

I got a blue sample in the colour 'Coat Azure'. The sample size is quite cute and I already tested it on one of my nails and it would have to be done with 2 coats to get the proper colour. I'm more of a neutral/more understated nail polish kind of girl but am going to give this a try for Spring time here in Australia. I love how they wrote the product description for it though!!

Certified Organic by NATURE, NVEY ECO's Taupe #172 Eyeshadow : full Size 1.5 gr RRP 29$
"A full sized sample of our versatile and universal shade that can be used for all occasions. Talc free and formulated using soothing organics elements such as chamomile and jojoba oil, with added antioxidants Vitamins A, C & E, to create a smooth and soft formula, excellent for dry sensitive skin."

This is such a gorgeous colour in the pan and a full size product which will definitely last me ages as I don't think I've ever finished an eyeshadow before. The colour isn't that pigmented and quite sheer so would do as a really nice highlight colour on the eyes and under the brow.

POD Liquid Tan - Gradual Tanning Face Serum : full size 50ml RRP $40
"Everybody's faking it! Re-create that iconic Aussie tan without the damaging sun or any irritating chemicals with POD Skincare's full size tanning face serum. The light-weight serum uses a eco-cert vegetable tanning active that quickly develops into a natural, long-lasting tan & the only self tanner to include Replic8 that mimics young healthy skin for a longer lasting tan"

Now this is what I'm talking about! Definitely my favourite product from the box since I love to look tan and am always on the search for easy products to do it. I'm going to start using this starting tomorrow. Plus they included the full size :) Also the ingredients list I thought was so clever; since most of the time you have no idea what these ingredients you are reading even are or come from so they included next to each one what they actually are/come from (e.g. aqua - water, Sodium Citrate - citrus fruit etc).
Keratinology by Sunsilk Salon Perfection Hair Collection : full size 100-200ml RRP $10.99-$13.99
"A premium collection designed to protect the investment women make in salon treatments. The keratinology by Sunsilk has been formed with Keratin Micro Technology, scientifically proven to prolong the luxurious look and feel experienced when you first step foot out of the salon and address the common damage symptoms caused by many salon treatments including bleaching, colouring and ironing"

I was impressed that they gave full sizes on these (200ml each). I won't be testing these out for a while as I am trying to finish off my current shampoo and conditioner. Also am always careful with hair products as I have extremely oily and flat limp hair so don't want products weighing it down.

The last thing to be included in the box was a '$10 off any Jewellery Purchase" in store or online for magnolia jewellery. I checked out the site already and most of it isn't my style, but I like the concept of discount vouchers.

Well that was my November ILoveThisBox. Unfortunately I had to cancel my subscription for now as am going on holiday from December to the end of January so wouldn't be able to pick up the box from the post office. But am definitely going to sign up again once I am back in the country. Love this whole concept of these sample boxes!!

Sale- Motel Black Dress

Hey everyone,

I'm selling this dress in the pictures above as I ordered it and unfortunetely is too big for me. It still has its original tag on and everything as I only tried it on, never wore out or anything like that.

"the perfect LBD, the Motel Nina Dress. This sleeveless dress features a bodycon fit, striking lattice shoulder strap detailing, open back and a single button fastening. Team with wedges and a chic jacket."

It originally cost me £35.00 ( $56 ) plus £9.95 shipping to Australia.

I am selling it for £25 ( $40 ) plus £3 shipping to anywhere in the world.

The size is XS (size 8) but could easily fit a size 10.

Let me know if anyone is interested :)

Kate Moss Lipstick Collection

Serious annoyance going on my side right now. After seeing swatches and posts about Kate Moss' new Lipstick Collection for Rimmel I was jealous of all the UKers who got to get their hands on these lippies. THEN, to my delight, one night I was watching TV here in Australia and on came an advert for the new collection of 7 lipsticks. Let me just emphasise that they did say 7!

So the next day I make my way to priceline to get my hands on the one I wanted to get - the nude shade 03. (i love my nude lipsticks). Buuuuuuuuuuut of course. They didn't have any. They only had the other 6 colours. Next I made my way to Target, thinking that 03 must have just sold out really fast, nope, Target only had 6 colours too. Next, K Mart, aaaaaaaaand nope also just 6. Sigh!

I don't get why Australia fails to see the appeal in nude lipsticks? So annoying. Anyway, rant over :)

A Poem - Crabby Old Man

What do you see nurses? . . ... . . What do you see?
What are you thinking . . . . . When you're looking at me?
A crabby old man . .. . . . Not very wise,
Uncertain of habit ... . . . . With faraway eyes?

Who dribbles his food . . . .. . And makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice . . . . . 'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice .. .. . ... . The things that you do.
And forever is losing . . . . . A sock or shoe?

Who, resisting or not . . . . . Lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding . .. . .. . The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking? . ... . . . Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse . . . . . You're not looking at me.

I'll tell you who I am. . . . ... . As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, . . . . . As I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten . .. . . .. With a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters . . . .. ... Who love one another.

A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. With wings on his feet.
Dreaming that soon now . . . . . A lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty . . . . .. My heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows . . . . . That I promised to keep.

At Twenty-Five, now . . . .. . I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide . . . . . And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty . . . . . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other .. . . . . With ties that should last.

At Forty, my young sons . . ... . . Have grown and are gone,
But my woman's beside me . . . . . To see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . .. . . . My loved one and me.

Dark days are upon me . . . . . My wife is now dead.
I look at the future . . . . . Shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing . ... . . . Young of their own.
And I think of the years .. . . .. . And the love that I've known.

I'm now an old man . . . . .... And nature is cruel.
Tis jest to make old age . . . . . Look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles . . . . . Grace and vigor, depart.
There is now a stone . . . . Where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass . . . . . A young guy still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . My battered heart swells.
I remember the joys . . . . . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . ... . Life over again.

I think of the years, all too few . . . . . Gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . . That nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people . . . ... . Open and see.
Not a crabby old man . ... . . Look closer . .. . See ME!!

Feather Extensions

I guess Feather Extensions have been around for a couple months now, specially in America and Europe but I haven't really seen them around here in Australia on people yet; maybe they will come out in Spring time.

I really like this trend. What do you all think?
I was trying to look online for a site where I could buy some but they don't really sell just a few strands, more like a whole bulk load?

Going to do some more searching to see if I find any, or let me know if you know a site where you can get them off. I'm more keen of the more understated feather looks like these:

Fake MAC

Left - Real  ....... Right - Fake

Look at the picture above. Do you notice a difference? Yup, I was ebay faked. I should have known better than to get a face product off ebay but Australia is so crazy expensive that buying them online is just way cheaper. I've bought lipsticks off ebay before and they were all perfect so I decided to give one of the face products a try but wasn't so lucky this time.

Anyway, yes the one on the right is the faker. Difference between the two were:
- Packaging: writing on front, unsturdy, faker had a matte really soft casing, mirror inside wasn't placed properly
- Product: ew. Flaked soooo much with just one brush swipe, smelt horrible
- Colour: just look at the pictures. Faker is a NW25 and  the real deal on the left is a NW20.

Left - Real  ....... Right - Fake
I bought the colour NW25 online (yuuup that was NW25?!? Wayyy too dark and so orangey) Tried it anyway, one swipe of my brush over it and literally sooo much crumble product - you can see a tiny bit in the pic - just imagine that all over.
Went to MAC yesterday, as I'm back home so it's way cheaper than Australia, to buy the real deal and i got NW20 (notice the difference of the NW20 original and NW25 faker?) I even asked to look at the original NW25 and it was sooooooooo different. Crazy.

Lesson learned. Don't get your make-up foundations off ebay. Lipsticks I will continue as I was happy with my previous purchases and got some trusted sellers on that front but never again for the face! Be careful guys, lots of people trying to rip each other off out there.

Lipstick HG!!

Oh. My. God. I think I have found my perfect HG nude lipstick. Although still a major fan of creme de nude, I went to MAC yesterday and picked up MAC Studio Tech (wore it yesterday and like it so far) and also a MAC Sheen Supreme lipstick in 'Supremely Confident'. Love it!!!!. Why have I never tried a sheen supreme before? They are like a lipstick - but glossy!! Amazing. Literally. I heard they are bringing out more sheen supreme colours soon mayb endish of year so there will be more colours available to get :)

Luxy Hair Extensions

So I've been wanting hair extensions for, like, ever. Literally! Every time I hype myself up to buy them I spend a day researching different ones, find a company I like, research it a bit more, look at the different colours aaaand... it stops there. It's like I have this fear of committing to one shade in case I end up buying the wrong one and wasted all that money? Yes, I know most of them you can return as long as you didn't open them, but really, who wants to go through all that. It's just so much better when you get online purchases perfect from the start.

Today I had another one of those days. BUT. I actually ended up purchasing a set :) I settled on a band called Luxy Hair owned by two sister and which sell 20" 100% Remi Human Hair in weights of 120g and 160g.

The two Sisters
It took me a while to figure out what the weights meant? But basically it's no change in the hair/quality/length etc, the only difference is the quantity. So 160g had 10 pieces and 120g had 9. They recommended the 120g for finer/normal hair and the heavier one for thicker etc. I got the 120g because my hair is really thin and I even doubt I'll be putting all 9 pieces in?! Hope I made the right choice.

I had SUCH a hard time choosing the colour. Spent the whole day again just trying to research and decide. Ended up settling on the "#18 Dirty Blonde" and even though I'm tryin gto grow my hair out to my natural colour, which is darker than this one, they always say it's easier to darken lighter extensions than lighter darker ones. Check out the sort of colour match below.
Shipping is free btw, big plus, and it'll take abt 2 weeks until I get them (sent them over to my Malaysian address since I'll be going back home end of the month). Once I get them I'll do a full review and some pictures of how they look etc. I've never had extensions before so will practice putting them in a couple times first :P.

Do any of you use extensions or tried these before? Any tips on easy application or hiding the clips well? xxx

**UPDATE**

I thought I'd post some pictures of me wearing my Luxys:

Got my Nudes

I posted a picture a couple days ago of a pair of nude heels that I really wanted. Well I bought a pair yesterday and they are nearly exactly the same. Only cost me AUD$40 (they were on sale from $50). Tried taking some pictures of them but the lighting is really bad - without the flash they don't look that nude and with the flash they nearly look white. Click here if you wanna see how they look like properly from the website. If you live in Sydney I got them from the Shoebox store in the shopping centre above Paddy's Markets in Haymarket. I might get the sole on the heel changed to a black one (that little "stopper" on the heel part that you see in the pics in brown?) I can get it done reeeeally cheap so might do that for more of a contrast. What you think of the shoes? :)

Cover - Mean - Alex G

Loving this song atm. Makes me tear for some reason. She's so good.

June 06, 2011

I am soooo bummed right now. I ordered the MAC Studio Fix powder foundation in NW25 and the colour is poo! Looks waaay too orange and dark. Should have gone with the NW20 I think. Money wasted once again. :(

Missing the Blonde

I saw this picture and really started missing my blonde hair. I started dying my hair mayyyybe from year 9 or so ever since about last year. Now trying to go for the more "natural" look of growing out my own hair colour.

Love blonde hair paired with black or dark eye make up and nude or light pink lips. Determined not to give in though and successfully grow out my hair.

Motel Dresses

I shouldn't be blog posting atm, but I really can't be bothered to learn my German speech off by heart right now for tomorrows speaking exam...
Sooooo solution? Online shopping!!!! :) :)

Have any of you tried the MAC Studio Fix Powder?

I just ordered it in NW25 and have heard mixed things about it but thought I'd see for myself.

I got an oily t-zone and combo everywhere else so I'm hoping it won't turn into one of those foundations that make you even oilier.
I really want to try the MAC Studio Tech one as well. Anyone tried that one too?

When it comes to dresses I am in love with bodycon styles. With my make up and hair done for a night out, I always feel up to the 'party mood' with a bodycon. I was blog surfing the other day and saw a comment mentioning a website called motelrocks.com and there are so many bodycon dresses on that site!! I think most of them are actually. And topshop sometimes sells some of Motel's stuff so some of you might actually recognise their things.

Anyway. The ones I am eyeing atm are these (order of preference):
imagine this colour against a really good tan
either this black dress or the next one. i like this one cause it looks diff
I'm usually a size 8 when it comes to the dresses but the problem I always have is with my waist cause its usually still a tiiny bit loose there and I'm jst thinking since all these dresses need that part to be literally perfect fit since they all dip so low at the back hmmmmmmmm dunno... decisions decisions.

Anyways what do you guys think about these 3? Or are there any others on the site that you think would look good?

**UPDATE**

So the dresses arrived today.... disappointed! First off the peach one wasn't even that vibrant in colour. Looked as if it had been washed with a load of blacks so the colour was way dulled down.

Next the black one (second pic above). Better wuality bodice material but the straps aroudn the neck are to big so don't hand right..... Sighhhhhhhh. Waste of money once again.

Katy Perry - Purr

Now before you think 'oh just another celebrity perfume' stop! I went into Myer (big department store here in Australia)with the intention of smelling my all time favourite perfume Juicy Couture - Viva La Juicy (which is on my current perfume wish list atm) and there were all these chicks dressed up in purple catsuits with cat ear headbands *huh??*. They were promoting the new Katy Perry perfume called 'Purr'.

I was just going to walk by and ignore them like I usually do with most perfume promoters but I'm so happy I didn't. A spritz on a paper sample, a spritz on my wrists and a mini sample later I was hooked. I went home and seriously I couldn't stop sniffing my wrists the whole way back.

Obviously couple days later I ended up buying it. LOVE IT!!

So what does it smell like?

"combining top notes of peach, forbidden apple, gardenia and green bamboo
with the heart of jasmine, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose and the
base of vanilla orchid, creamy sandalwood, white amber, coconut and musk."

First off I love anything vanilla and coconut smelling - they are my fav. I love fruity smells in perfumes so that's probably why I was so attracted to it. And omg it lasts for hours before wearing off. Even after it starts wearing off a bit, the last lingering notes are still amazing. I even sprayed some in my hair at the beginning of the day and after tying it up over night and letting it down the next morning I still got a whiff of it.

Perfect for day and night in my opinion. The fruity smells make it appealing for day and then the vanilla and coconut make it sexy enough for night. The staying power is also a definite plus for night time wear. It is quite a sexy smell actually.

IF I had to compare it to another perfume I'd only slightly compare it to Juicy's Viva La Juicy. But only after a couple hrs wear cause in my opinion Purr starts off much stronger and "deeper" and smells different. After it dies down a bit, once vanilla starts shining through more, then VLJ is close.
Go out and smell this one for yourselves. Definite staple with me now!
Retails for (AUD)$69 at priceline and Myer for the 50ml bottle and $89 at Myer for 100ml

Royal Wedding

How amazing was the royal wedding on Friday?!
Loved it!
My mum was over in Sydney for a visit so it was me and her in the hotel room watching the whole thing.

I loved watching every second of it. Best moments?

- When Catherine walked into the church and Prince Harry turned around to see how she looked like since Prince William wasn't allowed to look yet
- The dress <full stop>
- The SECOND kiss on the balcony. The fact that there even was a second kiss
- The whole spectacle of the carriages, the horses, the masses of people etc etc etc

What were your favourite moments?

how cute is that little girl looking up at them?

Green Tea

I dunno if I'm imagining it (since my boyfriend said he didn't see a difference) but I swear I think my skin has gotten so much better in the last couple days. Not better in terms of less breakouts or clearer skin - well yes clearer skin in a way - but more "young" looking. It's hard to explain, but do you ever look at your face and think 'man my skin looks so.... old and blah' well the last few days I've been looking at my face and thinking the exact opposite. It's really strange. Let's hope I didn't jinx it now.

I tried thinking what might be the reason for this and literally the only thing I can think of is green tea. Now hear me out, I've been drinking green tea religiously every day for about a week now. At least one cup a day usually more. I remember watching a youtube vid from Belle Du Jour about how she takes care of her skin and she said she drinks green tea religiously and that it helps so much. So I've been trying the same and yuuuuuuuuup I agree. (Please let it stay that way :P)

I looked up what else green tea is good for:
  • eliminating free radicals within the body
  • absorbs and blocks cholesterol
  • helps prevent heart related conditions within the body
  • works to normalise blood pressure levels
  • helps to fight bacteria and viruses
  • improves the condition of the intestines by blocking bad bacteria and increasing levels of good bacteria
  • helps to detoxify the body
  • helps to stabilise diabetes
  • can assist in weight loss
  • slows the ageing process
  • helps to strengthen the immune system
And the best part about all of this. It actually tastes good.
win - win :)

Zara Sydney

So today was the official store opening of Zara here in Sydney and it was absolute madddnessss. I was at work and we always have the radio on and they were reporting how after only 10 minutes they had to do some serious crowd control cause there were just too many people flooding in so would only let in 500 inside the store at a time!

I'm pretty used to Zara anyways since back home they are all over the place so am not that much in a hurry to go check out the store here in Sydney but will head over in a couple weeks once the hype has died down a little bit and I don't have to wait in line for ages to just get in the front door.

I gotta say though i LOVE Zara's winter coats. They are amazing. But tbh I always only ever shop at Zara when the sales are on a) everything is obv so much cheaper but also b) they actually have good things in the sales. So I don't really mind waiting till they are on.

My Birthday

So yesterday was my birthday and it's safe to say that this wasn't one of those birthdays where I just sat at home doing nothing. Here's what I spent my day doing:

5:30 am start -
get woken up by M and watch the sunrise over the ocean.

Go back home and get breakfast cooked by M and served back in bed.

9 am - Go on a 1 hour horse riding trek along the coastline.

Go home and have a definite needed nap (I am the worst person when I don't get enough sleep. 2 hours later get woken up by M with some lunch. Get dressed and we head over to Nick's for the cake.

6:45 pm - Snap Shot session followed by dinner at a German/Austrian restaurant.

9 pm - Ice Skating and being kids in the park on the swingssss :)

11:30 pm - Milking my last half hour of being able to get away with asking for something followed by "but its my birthdayyyy" so I asked for a massage haha.

I was got so spoiled today. Loved everything that was planned for me. <3 <3

Updates

I've definitely been lacking in the blogging department lately.

Been super busy since I started uni again - definitely over the semester already and can't wait for holidays! Mid semester exams are in 2 weeks and then have a 2 week holiday after them so at least that's a plus.

I managed to get a 6 month internship :) pretty excited about that. It's at Encompass Junior which is a Talent/Model Agency for kids under 17 here in Sydney and eMg Models is in the same office so regular hotties keep coming in which makes the internship being unpaid juuuust a little bit more enjoyable lol.

Next thing to look forward to is my birthday this weekend :) Hope you have all been well x

Tattoo Mood

I'm in one of those moods again -
the "I wanna get a tattoo" mood

I've lost count on how many times I've thought about wanting to get a tattoo but whenever I find myself set on a design idea and placement I end up changing my mind. That's when i realise; ok I'm probably not ready to get a tattoo yet.
But here we are again and this is the picture that sparked up my mood:

A cute little heard on the inside of my ankle (a placement I have thought about before) and I've thought about getting a small heart design before as well so maybe this time we have a winner.

Another thing always putting me off is what the pain would be like. Anyone else gotten the inside of their ankle done before? What's it like?

Greige Nails

Ever since I saw Lady GaGa on the Vanity Fair cover I've been obsessed. Not with her, but with the colour she was sporting on her nails! The perfect shade of a grey/beige = greige. I've been looking everywhere for this shade but just couldn't seem to find it anywhere.
But... In my persistent searching I found another gorgeous shade which is now my fav nail polish colour atm. It's alot darker than the wanted Lady GaGa colour but loving it.
OPI - You Don't Know Jacques!
Still. I had to find a similar colour to the lighter Vanity Fair one. And i founddd itttt. The exact same one she used actually. Was way easier to find than the first times I tried, no idea what I must have been putting into the search engines for it not to show up. Anyways, I ordered myself a bottle and am waiting for it to arrive.
Deborah Lippmann - Waking up in Vegas
What are your favourite nail polish colours? I think my next search will be a baby pink one.

Scarf Tying

Whenever putting on a scarf its always the usual wrap around once around the neck or create a loop and weave the end through. Then I saw this picture today and now I have a new way of wearing my scarfs. I think this looks really good!

Do you have any other ways of wearing scarfs?

Kim Kardashian - Jam

Kim Kardashian sings now as well... whatt?!? Yeah that was probably my first reaction when I heard about a new single being out by her. What I think of it? Ermmm yeah I dunno really, its okkk but just sort of sounds the same over n over. She looks gorgeous on the cover though!
Listen yourself and let me know what you think...

Crackle Nails

How different is this new crackle nail look? I mean, apply this stuff over any normal nail polish and you got yourself a one of a kind look going on. OPI also has one out called 'Black Shatter'. Definitely going to be looking into getting one of these and trying it out. Looks like too much fun to pass up.

Austria - Skiing

The last trip of my long 3 month "summer" holiday is now over as well :( Just got back from an 11 day skiing holiday in Austria with my dad and best friend Nick. We had so much fun! I hadn't skid for 6 years before hitting the slopes this time but it went so well, didn't feel like 6 years at all! The first part of the trip was filled with skiing in Mellau, and the second part was spent meeting up with my sister, cousins etc.
Now I'm back in KL and only a couple days left here until I fly back over to Sydney. I just realised I am short one elective for uni this semester so I'm trying to find another subject for me to do; but failing. There is literally nothing appealing to me that UTS offers which I could do. Sigh, cannot be bothered really.
